Feeling impatient and stuck in life can sometimes get the best of you when you do not put things in the right mental perspective. The feeling of your desires not moving along, of progress nowhere to be seen, or feeling tired of waiting for something good to come can become an endless cycle when no change is made in your definitions and habits of thinking.
Adopting a broader view on things will greatly help in soothing impatience and in truly enjoying the journey along. In this article, I’ll be sharing six mental habits you can adopt in your daily lifestyle and learn how to have patience in life as you move along with your journey, embracing it’s eternal process.
1. Realize that for every event in your life, you’re always gaining. It’s either you get what you want or you learn something from it.
When you look at every occurrence in your life as a beneficial thing, you get to take whatever is essential for you in your own personal growth and development. You enjoy every bit of unfolding and will never feel the need to hurry when you appreciate whatever value life is providing for you in any moment. You either extract what you need to learn, or you receive the desire you’ve asked for. In any case, it’s win-win for you and the journey of unfolding is appreciated for what it’s truly worth.
Every event in your life is coming to you to mirror your world within. And when you know this, you patiently enjoy what each day brings, embracing what life is mirroring back to you with each piece of experience.
2. Do not judge your progress based solely on what your physical senses can perceive.
The connections in life that you need for the fulfillment of your desires are not all perceivable by you, all at once. The human mind is only capable of perceiving a tiny fraction of what’s happening in its entirety, that is, you only get to perceive that which is already occurring in front of you. When you can’t see anything moving along, it doesn’t mean what you want is never coming. And as you know this and release judging your progress, you will naturally be led to the next logical step that you need along your trail. The continuation of your path will be revealed incrementally, one step at a time, when you stop judging and start trusting your path.
Faith in life always involves believing in something that’s in your future and is not yet seen in the moment. Faith is the proof that what you want is on the way. It is expecting something that the future holds for you and is coming to pass. As you cultivate faith and release judgment based on your physical senses alone, you will practice patience as you allow the next pieces to fall into place as you continuously move along your journey.
3. Don’t take score too much and too soon. Know that waiting time is never a wasted time.
Timing in life is everything. Every rendezvous or meeting of people, places and things are all in perfect timing and balance in this Universe, considering every component involved. And knowing that certain pieces in your life need to be in harmonious arrangement and alignment first with all the other components, will allow you to practice patience in giving every component the ample time it needs for the perfect pieces to come together. Just like in nature, there is no rushing of things along yet everything is in perfect order and harmony.
Know that great things take time. There is a natural gestation period. Give life the time it needs to orchestrate the components of your desires. The waiting time is part of the plan, always a part of the process.
4. Hold the vision of your future in your mind and heart, and feel the presence of what you want as already existing in your now.
The reason you want whatever it is you’re desiring for the future is because you want the good and happy feeling you will get as a result. But when you make it a habit to already feel the energy of what you want wherever you are, that is, to be in the energy of happiness and satisfaction, you are essentially feeling your future right now. Impatience will never be felt whenever you are feeling good right where you are. You will not yearn for a future event to give you the feeling that you are already feeling within you, right in this moment.
5. Fill your mind with thoughts that add power to your desires.
Increase the energy momentum towards the things that you want by fueling positive expectation and building anticipation for its unfolding. Listen and engage about things that empower your faith, and let positive energies permeate your being. Establishing a strong foundation of positivity and optimism in your life will block away thoughts of impatience or negative expectations about your desires not coming to pass.
6. Know that life is an eternal process.
When you come to the realization that you’re in this life for the fun in the process, and not to get to some ending place where everything is already done and finished, you will enjoy life just as it is presented to you right now. You will be in peaceful acceptance of the eternal truth that you will always be in the process of becoming and you will never get to a place of accomplishing it all. Having fun along the way in this eternal journey will now be your goal, instead of getting to an ending destination that is truly nowhere to be found. And how can you feel impatient when you’re having fun? Those two definitely don’t go together.
